Prolog: When's This Shit Going Down![]

So this whole this went down like this. Sprinkle was a 16 year girl from District 9. She had wavy brown hair and amber eyes. She was timid and shy at first encounter however over time she would warm up to new people. Sprinkle and her older brother lived their whole lives in District 9 with their mother and father. Sprinkle wasn’t the trouble maker type and kept her nose clean. She was quiet content with her life the way it was other than the fact that it seems none of the males had ever showed interest in her. Her older brother seemed to attract the attention of all the young ladies much to his dislike. Sprinkle had always wished she could train luck with him it that were possible to make both of them happy. Sprinkler and her brother were very close and this year they would become closer.

So when it came time for the Reaping for Tributes for that old Hunger Games, Sprinkle attended with her brother. It went down like usually picking the names and all however this year was different. This was Sprinkles’ brother Scythe’s last year that he would be allegeable. He was now 18.

The escort this year for District 9 was a women named Macy. She wore a violet colored outfit and had purple. Her skin was very pale yet her lips were maroon. Sprinkle always like the Capitol people’s sense of fashion. She liked their pastel colors that reminded her of spring. Anyways Macy picked out a name for the female Tribute and read it out loud.

“Sprinkle Starling! Is this year’s female Tribute!” Macy announced.

“Damn it,” Sprinkle muttered. “Well I had a good run…”

“Sprinkle, come on up here!”

Sprinkle did what she was told and joined Macy on the stage. Next Macy picked out the name for the Male Tribute.

“Scythe Starling!”

“Well I’ll be damn...” Scythe said rather loudly. “Alright let’s get his thing over with.

“Oh you two must be brother and sister? It is very rare that two Tributes from the same District are brother and sister.”

No one bother to volunteer for Sprinkle and her brother Scythe. Sprinkle could see the look on her parent’s faces but had to look away. How devastating this would be for her mother and father. If only one of them was going, if only Sprinkle had been chosen than she could win this but now with her brother, how could she compete against him?

So that’s how that happened and the two were taken to the Capitol after their goodbyes. The ride over to the Capitol was a pleasure for Sprinkle. She thought the hover craft train thing they traveled in was cool, and of course all the food! Sprinkle had never seen so much food in one place before and so many different kinds. Scythe had commented that if they were going to die they should enjoy their last few days alive.

“Scythe? Do you think we have a chance?” Sprinkle asked her brother.

“Hell yes! We can go without food. He know how to survive in the wild. Remember what papa learned you.”

“I know but…”

“We can take out a few with us before we go. Let’s go out in a blaze of glory like our uncle did.”

Sprinkle’s uncle had been reaped into the 32th Hunger Games. He made almost to the end till he was killed in a battle against the Careers people. He managed to kill off three of them throughout that Game by using the field to his advantage and his smarts and stealth. For some reason he couldn’t be track, mainly because he kept off the group and walked in the water to prevent footprints. He also set up a trap for the Careers by heavily bobby-trapping a cave and purposely leaving his footprints heading into the cave to lure them in there. He ranked 4th in the whole Games and made an alliance with several other Tributes including the female Tribute from District 9. Sprinkle like listening to stories about her uncle from her mama, but it always seemed to make her mother sad.

“We be as insane as possible and those Careerers won’t touch us,” Scythe continued. “We be smarted more clever like prince El-ahrairah.”

“I supposed we are be full of tricks and those Careerers will never catch us?”

“Yes, Sprink. I’ll keep you alive so you can go home back to ma and pa.”

And so Sprinkle and her brother formed an alliance to keep each other alive. Scythe promised he would keep his baby sister alive and sacrifice himself in order to save her. However that thought bother Sprinkle. She didn’t want to live without him and to go home back to her mama and papa without him.

The two met their Mentor, a man named Zolo. He had won the 42th games. When asked how, he said he would slit the throats of other Tributes starting with the Careers at night while they slept. Once all the Careers were dead the Game was more fair for the other Tributes and one by one they killed each other or fell victim to the elements. Zolo survived by taking his victims supplies. The 42th Games was one of the longest Games because the Careers dies so early in the Game. After their deaths it became a waiting game to see who would out last the longest. Zolo commented he only had kill two of the Careers and two other Tributes while the others had killed off the rest and died on their own. Zolo had lost track of who was still in the game and was surprise when it was announced that he was the winner.

“Zolo Mentor Person? The Careerers, they were trained their whole lives to fight, right?” Sprinkle asked.

“Yeah it’s illegal but nothing is against the law when you have money.”

“How come no one trains their children for the Games in the other Districts. We should be prepared.”

“Our papa thought us how use make and use weapons,” Scythe added. “He says if we were ever to become Tributes we should know how to defend ourselves.”

“Your father was a smart man. Giving his children the best chance at survival, as much as possible that he provide.”

“I think you two will do find,” Macy commented. “You two look strong compared to the others from your District. You have the best chance to survive.”

“The Hunger Games is like an OCT,” Scythe muttered.

When arriving at the Capitol, Sprinkle and Scythe got to spend a day at the spa. Sprinkle enjoyed being pampered. It made her feel like she was special like a Capitol person. Scythe didn’t really care. He wasn’t aware that he was dirty. After being cleaned he commented that he felt cold and lighter. Zolo and Macy said that the Capitol people were clean freaks. Once they were prepped and ready the siblings were introduced to their stylists named Cyan and Phoenix. Phoenix was Scythe’s stylists and Cyan was Speckle’s stylist. Phoenix was a nice young woman no older than her early twenties. She has fiery red curly hair and bright green eyes. Phoenix became a stylist after she won the 53th Games. She moved to the Capitol so her children won’t have to participate in the Hunger Games. Cyan had been born in District 2 but moved to the Capitol when she became a stylist. She always had a good sense of fashion. She hadn’t lived in the Capitol her whole life she had said, choosing the wonder from District to Distract to learn their styles to make her a better designer. Cyan always wanted to be stylists and she enjoyed costume making outfits for people. Sprinkle thought all the Capitol people were pretty in their own way yet odd looking. Basically all the Capitol people looked like a bunch of Jeffrey Stars and Lady Gagas.

“I think I like to be a stylist,” Sprinkle had said to Cyan. “But it’s a hard job, because the Tributes that you decorate usually die.”

“It’s nice to make them feel beautiful and to show the world who these Tribute could be if allowed.” Cyan responded with. “Now what do you want to look like?”

The Chariot Race came and went and all the Interviews. Sprinkle liked all the attention. She liked the horsed the best. Cyan had said that Chariot would make a find name for a child. Sprinkle though so too. When Sprinkle was interviews she said she didn’t think she would make it but she was going to do her best and survive as long as she can so her brother won’t die. She would live for him so he wouldn’t have to sacrifices himself. She also said she liked the other Tributes and if they weren’t being forced to fight one another she would be there friend. When Scythe was interviewed, he stated that he would have volunteered for his sister if his name was not picked immediately after. When he was told that he couldn’t do that because the tributes need to be one female and one male, Scythe commented back with “You don’t think I am feminine enough? I can be a girl look.” As Scythe preformed a failed female impression twirling his long black hair in his fingers.

“My sister should win because she has never had enough life yet. She needs someone to love her before she dies. My sis always wanted someone to love her like our ma and pa do. Me, I don’t like the girls in my District.”

She and Scythe watched the other Tributes. There were the District 1 people named Mercury and Velvet who would be their biggest problem along with the District 2 people. Sprinkle saw the male from District 4. He was a young boy with curly brown hair and hazel eyes. He was from one of the Career District which meant he would be a challenged. His District partner Pike was also fierce; she was well skilled in many weapons and was also good at “Human Fishing.”

Training wasn’t too difficult but it helped Sprinkle figure out how and who the other Tributes were. Scythe like his name was very good with scythes however they didn’t offer any in the Training room. He didn’t like the swords too well. Scythe died a dagger/knife to a stick. Sprinkle also didn’t like the swords, they were heavy and bulky. She liked a slather weapon. Sprinkle wasn’t very good with the heavier weapons but her papa had told her that straight isn’t everything. The None Career Tributes that won the previous Hunger Games won not with strength or skill, luck helped but they were clever. Any problem would be solves through thought, however that took time and more effort so most people would rather act than think. During Training Sprinkle and Scythe were told that this would be the best time to scope the others out and learn who the watch out for and who would make a good alliance with. Scythe was very cautious on the idea of an alliance with someone else other than his sister. He didn’t trust the others, but Sprinkle told him that the more allies they had the better their odds would be. She wanted to have as many allies as possible with as many different skills as possible.

“How can we trust them?” Scythe asked.

“We want to live as long as possible. We all share the natural desire to survive and that is what will keep us together.”

Sprinkle wish she could have formed an alliance with the Careers since they would give her and her brother the best chance at survival however they were the people who would be the ones trying to kill them the most. The Career people however were only train in the way to fight not survive, or at least they never had too. Zolo told Sprinkle and Scythe that they just have to outlast them. When the Careers ran out of food and other supplies, the other District had a chance to win. Sprinkle liked the sticks they had yet these sticks were all straight and smooth. Besides the Career people Sprinkle like the District 7 Tributes Twiggy and Hollow. They were good with sticks and axes and knew a lot about the forest since they lived near on. District 9 didn’t have must of a wilderness however deer and rabbits sometimes came into the fields to eat the grain and other animals like field mice attracted foxes. They were very similar to Sprinkle and her brother and maybe they would be interested in an alliance. However Sprinkle also wanted people who had different abilities that her and Scythe’s own. Sprinkle also liked the two Tributes from District 8, Crochet and Qiviut. They were skilled in making rope. Qiviut had made a rope out of some cloth he had gotten probably from a table. He just sat there in the corner and all Sprinkle saw was his arms and fingers moving. Then all of a sudden he had a rope. The female Tribute Crochet was busy with her own project that Sprinkle didn’t see the end produce. Scythe commented that Sprinkle was picking people from Districts closest to District 9. Sprinkle commented back that those people were the more likely to partner up with them.

After training, Sprinkle told Scythe that they should try and form an alliance with the District 7 and 8 Tributes as well as the Tributes from District 11 because those people knew a lot about plants. Sprinkle knew a lot about some plants but District 9 only focus on a few plants. While District 11 had many plants and knew a lot about them, they even grew a few used to medicine. However District 11 mostly grew things like fruits, vegetables and cottons that was given to the Capitol. Sprinkle wondered how could the Capitol use all the things that was given to them by the other Districts. Sprinkle got in a conversation with the girl from District 11 about this topic.

“The Capitol isn’t as large as all the District combined right? Why do they take so much? What do they do with it all?”

“I don’t know but I think the Capitol is over populated or something.” The District 10 Girl named Quinoa said.

“I think they are just spoiled.”

“I think the Capitol people just like the take things,” Taurus the male Tribute from District 10. “They take the District children away from their families and force them to fight. S

prinkle decided she liked the girl from 11 and the boy from 10. Quinoa was very practical and she knew a lot about plants. The boy however seems to be depressed. Taurus was quiet most of the time and he didn’t seem too impressive other than the fact that he was rather large and muscular. He for some reason wasn’t seen with his female counterpart but was often seen sitting near Quinoa. Sprinkle figured he liked her or something. He girl from District 10 was happier than Taurus. She was busy making friends with everyone. She was harmless, small and young. Her named was Fleece and she was quiet happy to be there. Quinoa’s partner was named Thorn and he has the same darker skin tone as Quinoa. The two seems to get along well. Thorn was tall but not as big as Taurus yet he was rather fit for someone from District 11 which was one of the poorest Districts.

Sprinkle also liked the people from District 5 and 6. Quantum and Jolt were the Tributes from District 5. Quantum was smart and he seemed to be more interested in the technology in the Capitol. He started to take thing apart to see how they worked. Jolt figured out how to create an electric charge and shock the water in the training room. Sprinkle liked their ingenuity however in the Arena there will be no electronics. Still they were clever and quick thinkers, they be of some use for Sprinkle and Scythe. Pilot and Lexis were from District 6, and they were friendly, or at least Pilot was. Lexis was more interested in hanging out with the Careers, probably to form an alliance with them. She wasn’t seen much with Pilot. However Pilot was intelligent in the ways of camouflage, he commented that he had to paint the vehicles sometimes. Pilot was friendly enough to everyone and seem rather harmless. That made Sprinkle sad in a way. Lexis also seem to be a little mean to him and snapped at him once over something Sprinkle did not know why. Pilot however shrugged it off and apologized for whatever he did. Besides these people Sprinkle wasn’t too interested in the others much. However Scythe surprised her by saying he thought they should form an alliance with the people from District 3. Mopar and Tinker were very smart and knew how to build things, mostly electronics but they also were good at figuring things out. Sprinkle commented that they may be useless because there would be nothing for them to make anything out of in the Arena.
By the end of the training session, Sprinkle decided she would try and find Quinoa, Taurus, Pilot and either Twiggy or Hollow in the Arena assuming these people survived the Bloodbath. Scythe commented that they should try and make an alliance with anyone if they were going to try in the Arena but they should be wary of others in case they have are being played by the other Tributes.

“I think we should try and make ourselves seem as weak as possible,” Scythe had told Sprinkle when they were alone. “Make the others think we are helpless, easy targets so they won’t suspect us. Then when he get in the Arena, go all badass on them and kill them all.”

“Yes but won’t the Careerers attack us first?”

“I think they would want to get rid of any rivals to the Careerers in the Bloodbath before they pick off the weak.”

“I don’t know if you can appear weak Scythe. Look at you. You big and all strong and they know it.”

“Then you pretend to be weak and helpless. They will leave you alone. I will lead them away from you and you will escape and live. You have to live as long as you can.”

Sprinkle frowned.

“I don’t want to. I am not strong; I can’t be all badass like you Scythe. I am not strong and am defenseless.”

“No, you aren’t. You have me.” Scythe smiled.

“Stupid Hunger Games. Who thought of it?” Sprinkle hissed.

“Don’t know someone stupid clearly.”

And so that was the start of this thing. Scythe and Sprinkle were allowed to wonder around freely and interact with the other Tributes. Strange Sprinkle hung out with the majority of the poorest District Tributes as if they were friends. Scythe continued to follow her around where ever she went. Soon it was time for the Games to begin.

Day 1: Let it Begin[]

So the Games started like the always do. All the Tributes were gathered in the Arena by the transforming elevators underneath. Sprinkle was given her uniform, a black jacket and a pair of pants with matching shoes. Her stylists Cyan had given them to her. She quickly put them on along with some good luck charms given to her by her family and friends. She had a bracelet made given to her by her mom. It was her Uncle Bruno’s bracelet that he wore. He had given it to his sister before he left to compete in the Hunger Games oh so many years ago. When Sprinkle was done she had something for Cyan.

“Here can you do something for me?” she asked her stylist.

“Aright what is it?”

“Take this. I left a note inside with instructions. Do whatever you can just make sure you do it.”

“I will,” Cyan promised. “Now I wish you luck.”

“Luck? May Luck ever be in your favor seems to get you killed. Down wish me luck. I am no Nightingale. Wish me insanity please.”

“Okay I wish you insanity that you may do whatever you need to do to survive. Make your our luck, make the others fear you. Make them love you. Make the Capitol want you. Make sure you survive.”

“I will Cyan. And my brother too. I will make sure he survived with me too.”

Cyan looked at Sprinkle as she was lifted upwards to the Arena.

“I hope we meet again.”

“I hope so too.”

“Maybe not in this life but I hope we meet again someday. Promise?”

“I promised I’ll come find you.”

It was bright and cold. The Arena was tundra like with snowy hills in the far corner of the Arena. This year they went with a colder theme. Pine trees, thick tundra grass and small cold streams snaked along the Arena. Sprinkle was place near some people she wanted to form an alliance with luckily. Maybe luck was in her favor. The Tributes all wore the same outfits and were in a semi-circle around this massive object known as the Cornucopia. Sprinkle thought they did a bad job at making that thing look like what it supposed to be. Anyways it was filled with weapons and supplies which made it a bad thing. However it was also surrounded with supplies inside of backpacks. A weapon would be good but Sprinkle knew she probably wouldn’t get any. Still a simple pack would do.

Sprinkle looked around at all the other Tributes whom seem confused, expect for the Careers people. Scythe was a little ways from her but he was fast. He had always been fast like their pa. Sprinkle looked to the Tributes next to her, Taurus and Pilot. Everyone was arranging in a boy girl order. Pilot smiled at Sprinkle, an uneasy smile but he had hope she would make it too. Taurus looked worried like he would vomit. Sprinkle then looked at everyone else.

“Do we start now?” she heard someone ask who turned out to be Qiviut.

“No we wait for the count down,” responded Tiara, the District 1 female Tribute.

“Crap, crap hurry up, damn it.” Quantum mutter.

“Can’t wait to be killed eh? I can’t wait kill people.” Commented the District 2 male.

“I just can’t wait to be King!” Quinoa jokingly sang.

“But you’re a girl?” Pilot said knowing what she meant.

“You can be my Queen?” Quinoa commented back with a smile.

Sprinkle heard Taurus grunt.

“I wanna be a Princess!” young Velvet through her hand it to the air.

“Stop talking so we can get this thing started!” yelled a loud voice from beyond.

Clearly the Game makers were irritated be the conversation the Tributes were having. Finally the countdown reached the end and there was a sound that alerted the Games had begun, however the Tributes just stood there. Everyone just looked at one another.

“Do we start now?” asked Qiviut again.

“No,” Scythe replied.

“Why not?” Asked Tiara irritated.

“Because, I am not doing something for someone who yells at me. I won’t participate if the Game makers are going to yell at me.”

“But he wasn’t even talking to you. He was yelling at those other kids.”

“Yeah I am with him. Killing is one thing but I won’t stand for rudeness!” the District 2 Tribute male Guillotine backed up Scythe.

“I don’t know what kind of manners they have in the Capitol, but where I come from…” Scythe went on.

“People are very nice in District 1.” Mercury added.

“And District 2, everyone is nice to me” Velvet added as well.

“We are very sorry for yelling at you. Please except our dearest apologies. Now may we please start the Games,” the announcer said.

“That’s more like,” Scythe said. “But I don’t know. After the way I was treated. I don’t even know if I want to participate in your Hungry Games anymore.”

“Ah Hell with it all!” Tiara yelled. “I want the blood shed now!”

“Shit!” Scythe jerked away from Tiara but managed to stay on his pedestal knowing once someone took a step off the Games would start. “Calm down.”

Movement caught Sprinkle’s eye. She turned to see that Tinker, the female Tribute from District 3 was slowly raising her foot over to the grassy Arena earth. She slowly and hesitantly lowered her foot down.

“Tinker no!” Sprinkle called out but it was too late.

Sprinkle’s shout started Taurus who felt backwards on the other grass. Everyone froze just staring as if time had stopped. Guillotine smiled. Everyone took off now in different directional once. It was chaos, screamed and panic.

“Oh God!”

“No I want to live!”

“Shit, crap, damn it!”

“Right foot, left foot, right foot, left foot!”

Sprinkle took off running. She wasn’t sure where she was going but all she knew was she needed to put some distance from her and the Career Tributes. She had totally forgotten her idea to stay with the Tributes closest to her and form an alliance. She even lost sight of her brother. She just ran. She caught glimpses around of but never took her eyes to see what was going on. She heard Pilot in the back ground and feared to look back. She saw Velvet’s red hair in the corner of her eye. She heard someone scream. She heard someone laughing. She felt something at her feet and she went down face first into the grass. Dirt, wonderful dirt smelled so good.

“Get up!”

“Leave me and save yourself!”

“But you are not even dying?”

Sprinkle lifted her head to see Twiggy and Hollow talking to one another. She didn’t have time to resister what they were doing. Something had her leg. Sprinkle looked down and saw what was devouring her leg. It was a backpack. Done in by a backpack? No she was alright. Sprinkle kicked the thing off picked it up and stood up. She looked around and saw that Twiggy and Hollow were making a break for it to the woods. She turned around see that this was the worst bloodbath every.

“Where are all the dead people?” she asked herself out loud.

During the chaos and the ridiculous commented scream out loud caused the Careers to fall to the ground laughing. Potash was sitting with Mercury with his arm wrapped around him as if they had been friends for years.

“Did you see me?” Potash gasped in between breathes. “I was all like ah! And then ahahaha.”

“I can’t breathe...” Mercury wheezed. “God after that, I can’t kill you. That was too hilarious man, high five!”

Apparently Potash, the boy from District 12 had done something really funny that spared his life from Mercury. Sprinkle turned to see that Guillotine had Tiara pined to the ground. She was kicking and screaming about that she wanted to kill everyone but Guillotine said that he wanted this Game to go on as long as it can. He didn’t want the Games too be over too fast. Velvet was sitting on the ground picking flowers and was humming. Sprinkles looked around and saw the last of the others disappear into the woods. She got up and ran into the Cornucopia which was closer to her. As she went inside, she eyed a body on the ground. It was Polit. Her heart sank since she had hoped he would make it. He would have been a good ally. Sprinkle hid and waiting. She heard the other Career people talking, making a plan.

“Get your ass off of me!” Tiara’s voice shouted.

“Hahaha… No.”

“Are we going to kill the others?” asked the boy from District 4. “I mean the Games have started. Who do we kill first?”

“I am going to tell you who I will be killing first,” Tiara hissed. “I am going to cut you open Guillotine. And coke you on your intestines and gouged your eye balls right out of her sockets so you can watch me slaughter your sorry ass! Now get off of me!”

“What’s the magic word?”

“Oh god damn it Guillotine!”

“Just say it Tiara,” Mercury said rather calmly.

“Never!”

“Hey what do we do with him?” The boy from District 4 asked. Sprinkle didn’t know what he was talking about.

“Oh him. No let him go. He made me laugh. Anyone who can make me laugh deserves to live.”

Sprinkle now knew he must have been talking about Potash. He must have still been sitting there with Mercury. Sprinkle heard Potash voice meaning he was still alive.

“Let me kill him!” Tiara yelled.

“No, no fair. No fun,” Mercury said defiantly. “Let him join us?”

“He’s useless. He’s from District 12. That’s like where all the stupid people are from. They only good from hard labor.”

“Now, now don’t believe everything the Capitol tells you. Some 12ers have won the Games in the past.” Mercury said in his calm voice. “Fine but give him a head start.”

“Alright.”

“No I want blood!” Tiara yelled again. “Let me kill him.”

“Not until you say the magic word,” Guillotine laughed.

“I rather die!”

“Alright 12er boy, you got 10 seconds to get your ass out of here or I will release Tiara on you.”

“Shit!”

Loud footsteps could be heard fainting off in the distance before disappearing all together. Sprinkle assumed Potash took off running and made it away.

“Damn that boy can run!” Guillotine commented.

“Arh we’ll never catch him now!” yelled Tiara again. “Where’s Pike?”

“Don’t know. She must have went after the other Tributes.” Commented the District 4 boy.

“Pikes out there killing Tributes and what do I get? Guard duty…” Tiara pouted.

“Well looks like we got one. This was the lamest Bloodbath ever but at least we got one.” The District Boy from 4 must have been talking about Pilot.

Sprinkle could the District boy standing near the Cornucopia. She eyed his curly hazel hair waving in the wind. He was awfully close yet so far away in a sense. Sprinkle was scared. She should have ran to the wood. Scythe surely made it to safety. She died here on the first day, what a disgrace. Dying on the first day who ever heard of such a thing? The District 4 Boy took a step towards the Cornucopia. Sprinkle knew he would see her. He would kill her. She didn’t have a chance, no head start like Potash. She should have ran.

“Ha did you see those two from District 7? And did you hear what that guy from District 5 yelled? Hilarious! I like our group this year.” Mercury went on. “I think this Bloodbath was hilarious. Hey I think you’re bleeding.”

“Huh,” the boy from 4 stopped and looked at himself. “Oh yeah, would you look at that.”

“We should have a look at that.”

“Pike was always good with healing wounds. I’ll wait till she gets back.”

“How’d you get that?” Guillotine asked still sitting on Tiara.

“I think I cut myself when I fell to the ground laughing. I was next to a blade of some kind.”

“Here Tiara, I made this for you,” Sprinkle heard Velvet’s voice.

“Awe thanks Velvet. I would hug you but someone is sitting on me.”

“Just say please…” Mercury said.

“No!”

There was some kind call like an animal that came from the woods that caused the District boy to turned his head.

“That must be Pike. She must have found something.” He told the others.

“Let’s go see what she’s found,” Mercury said and walked off.

The District 2 boy allowed Tiara to go free more interested in seeing with the District 4 girl had found then get an impossible please from Tiara. Velvet also followed the others. Sprinkle waited till she couldn’t hear their footsteps. Even then she was still unsure if she should leave her hiding place. They would be back she knew it. Careers usually hung close to the Cornucopia for supplies. Sprinkle slowly got up her legs had fallen asleep so she couldn’t move so well. Still she wanted to get the Hell out of there. This would probably be her only chance at escape. As she was leaving she looked around for anything she could take. May as well, till her feet would wake up. She grabbed a knife, a bow and arrows for Scythe and a rather small sword that she could carry. She also found a bag label sleeping gear and an axe. Once her feet woke up she took a step outside as cautious as a deer. The Career District people were nowhere to be seen or heard. Sprinkle slowly looked around. She would go in the direction opposite that the Careers went clearly but where did her brother get off too. Any direction was as good as the next except where the Careers went so she headed off. As Sprinkle made her way towards the forest she heard a moan. Sprinkle looked down in the direction of where Pilot let.

“Pilot?” she asked and realized that was rather stupid. There was no way he could be alive.

Pilot moaned again and flip on to his side before sitting up with a dazed look on his face. Sprinkle dropped everything she was carrying to rush over to him. How could he still be alive? Pilot seemed out of it but there was no visible wound on him body.

“How are you still? Were you playing dead?”

“Huh? No I saw blood…” he responded slowly.

Sprinkle was confused but who the Hell cares. Pilot was alive. She picked him to forcing him to his feet. They didn’t have much time. Any second the Careers could come back and kill them easily. Pilot was a little unstable at first but soon recovered. Sprinkle picked up what she had original took and handed the axe to Pilot. She had taken a little too much than she could carry. She said they should get out of there and find the others to form an alliance with them. Pilot nodded as he picked up one of the last remaining backpacks and followed her.

“Here give me the sword,” he said with a hand out. “I can carry more.”

“Alright, let me get it off my belt.”

“It’ll be usefully to us…” the faith voice of one of the Careers could be heard. Sprinkle assumed it was Pike.

“They’re coming back. No time let’s go Pilot. This way.”

The two hurried off to the safety of the woods before the Careers came into view. Sprinkle knew the Careers would notice Pilot’s body was suddenly missing. She hoped they would care. Once they made their way through the woods for some time, the two stopped to rest. Sprinkle unhooked the sword from her belt and gave it to Pilot.

“Why did you play dead?” she finally asked.

“I wasn’t. When I see blood I faith.”

“Oh luckily they thought you were dead. Strange this year there was no bloodbath then if you didn’t die.”

“Hahaha really? Well maybe the Careers will think the Gamemakers came for my body and will think I am dead. Still no cannon was sounded so. They’ll figure it out eventually.”

Sprinkle was happy Pilot had survived somehow. It was also good to be with someone and not alone. Not all she had to do was stay alive and find her brother. The forest wasn’t very thick and had few bushes probably because of the pine trees were big and blocked most of the life. It was cold in the Arena, the Cornucopia was warmer probably because shielded her from the wind. She could hear birds and saw a few squirrels. She wondered if there would be any bigger animals for hunting. In previous Games the Gamemakers would add some predatorial animals to hunt down the Tributes. That always seemed unfair to her because those Tributes could have survived and maybe won if they had not been killed by the Gamemaker’s pets. Or at least they would have died at the hands of the Careers like the Capitol always liked. Still those creatures would only appear for a while and all Sprinkle had to do was survive those events and avoid them as much as possible. Still if there were some deer or rabbits in the Arena, Sprinkle and her brother could catch them for food. Sprinkle wasn’t too good with a bow or at least she thought so. She never used one but deer and rabbits were common sights in her District at night. Sprinkle had learned by her papa and mama how to scare away these critters or even shoot them with a crossbow. The Peacekeepers didn’t like it when the worked had to kill animals and preferred them to scare the creatures away. Sprinkle’s papa said if they don’t kill the animals but shoot close by them it, it would scares them off. Sprinkle had a crossbow with arrows that were title with clothes that didn’t hurt the animals but it startled them enough. However the workers also used bells tied to stick to keep the animals way and scarecrows to ward off birds. Sprinkle didn’t have too good of an aim though but she at least knew how to hunt somewhat.

“Look, footprints” Pilot said at last. “Bet they are one of the other Tributes.”

“This one if pretty obvious, you think it is a trap?”

“No, too clumsy looking. I don’t know. I am not a tracker. But what Tribute doesn’t like you?”

“My brother told me that the others may be friend to me in other to trick me so I should be careful. Not sure how to though. We should find him.”

Pilot looked at Sprinkle like he didn’t believe her. He then turned and started to follow the footprints. Sprinkles trialed after him through the mud. The ground was muddy in some places and in others was bone dry. It was weird but Sprinkle assumed this was what it was like to live in the colder Districts. Sprinkle wasn’t used to snow; she had never seen any in real life up close. She wasn’t sure if Pilot’s District had snow or not. The Districts didn’t interact must with each other. It always seemed flawed to Sprinkle because she knew some people who would be better off in another District. The Capitol’s lost. Pilot didn’t seem bothered by the cold and muddy ground.

“I think we should walk on drier ground. We are leaving tracks. It’s lead the Careerers straight to us.”

“Oh I suppose. But I want to know who went this way.”

“Pilot, Sprinkle!” sounded a familiar voice. It was Potash, the District 12 boy.

“Potash, you survived!” Pilot yelled joyfully.

“Yup made Mercury laugh and he let me live for now.”

“So I heard.” Sprinkle smiled.

“I thought you were dead Pilot. I saw your body.”

“Oh I saw Vendace bleed and fainted. They all thought I was dead or something. When they left Sprinkle woke me up.”

“I thought he was dead too.”

“Well come on, let’s get out of here.” Potash turned and disappeared back into the forest towards a rocky area.
The other two Tributes followed him. When they climbed over the rocks to where Potash had disappeared. They discovered a cave. It made sense that Potash a District 12er would choice to hide here. It was like his home. District 12 worked in mines. The cave wasn’t very big but it was deep enough to get them out of the wind and to hide them for some time. It was close to the Cornucopia however. Sprinkle figured the Careers people would stick close to their supplies in fear of losing them or needed them. For now this cave would do. Inside the cave however Potash wasn’t alone. Quantum and Jolt were with him. Apparently they had found the cave and eyed Potash in the forest after he escape the Careers and called him over. Jolt had injured herself while escaping the“

Not so Bloody” Bloodbath. She had wrapped a peace of clothe from her pack around her leg. She said she cut herself somehow.

“So should we start a fire?” she asked.

“No that would give us away.” Sprinkle responded.

“No to burn the Careers,” she explained. “Lots of wood to burn. I think we can smoke the Careers out.”

“Maybe, but we have to be careful not to burn ourselves and the others.” Sprinkle said thinking of he brother.

“It’s that the point?” Potash added. “I thought we have to kill as many people as possible?”

“I don’t want to kill people,” Pilot mutter.

“I don’t either but there can only be one winner,” Potash turned to him and continued. “I wish it wasn’t that way. You guys are pretty cool. Not at all like me. I am stupid and useless. I should die.”

“No you know about caves and forest right? District 12 has a lot of forest and cave so you can be useful to us. We keep each other alive and we won’t kill one another right?”

“Yes I am with female 9,” Jolt agreed. “We make a Pack not to kill one another and be allies.”

“Okay, sounds good. We got each other’s backs till the end and after.” Quantum put his hand up.

“Till the end and after,” Pilot repeated.

“Yes we got each other’s backs till the end and after,” Potash mimicked Quantum and Pilot’s hand gesture.
And we that was the end of day 1.
